Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups: 2010 Week 16

December 19th, 2010 kNuke

Welcome to the Money Round. You’re one win away from Fantasy Goodness! Good luck and don’t forget my cut.

QB: David Garrard, Jon Kitna, Rex Grossman, and Tim Tebow. Campbell and Collins were solid plays last week. The plan stays the same with Garrard as the preference. Kitna is a solid start, but Grossman and Tebow are only for the owners with steel cajones. Also, double check to make sure that Grossman and Tebow are starting before deploying.

RB: Derrick Ward, Donald Brown, Tashard Choice, and Marshawn Lynch. Ward could be a RB2 if Arian Foster is out while the rest of these guys are Flex plays. Downgrade Choice if Marion Barber plays.

WR: Anthony Armstrong, Jacoby Ford, Mike Thomas, and Mike Williams – SEA. All of these guys are WR3 at best, but I like Armstrong the most. Hopefully you’re just looking for a gamble at the WR3 spot.

TE: Owen Daniels, Kevin Boss, and Visanthe Shiancoe.

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups: 2010 Week 15

December 13th, 2010 kNuke

If you’re still reading at this point you’ve had a good season. Kudos and welcome to Bonus Bingo, the Fantasy Football Playoffs! If Jay Feely is the reason you’re here, gold star next to your name as the craziest dude in the office. Getting here is the main goal of the regular season. Now let the fun times roll. Grab your rabbit foot, rub the Buddha, eat your chicken, and don’t step on the white chalk, because it never hurts to have Lady Luck on your side.

QB: Jason Campbell, Jon Kitna, Kerry Collins, and David Garrard. Campbell was a solid play last week. The plan is basically the same with the added possibility of Collins. Kitna, Campbell, or Collins this week with Garrard for the whole enchilada.

RB: Tim Hightower, Ryan Torain, Anthony Dixon, and Tashard Choice. Hightower is a RB2 start again this week if you have the stomach. Torain had a stellar week, but I would temper expectations; still a solid Flex. The SF backfield is still a toss up, but Dixon is worth rostering. Felix Jones is definitely the man for the Cowboys, but if Barber is out again I’d expect Choice to find paydirt at least once next week. Also, check to see if Pierre Thomas is available, because he should get the bulk of the carries moving forward with the Chris Ivory injury.

WR: Mike Williams – SEA and Earl Bennett. Not a lot of help at the WR position. Williams could be a WR2 if healthy, but that’s a big if. Bennett is worth WR3 consideration next week against a short week Vikings team. Vincent Jackson is probably not on the Wire, but check just in case; sneaky WR3.

TE: Owen Daniels, Kevin Boss, Benjamin Watson, Tony Moeaki, and John Carlson. Daniels and Boss top the list as borderline TE1 guys. The rest of these guys are only for the strong at heart. If it comes to it, swallow the Redpill and hope that one of these rabbits cross the goal line.

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups: 2010 Week 14

December 6th, 2010 kNuke

For most of us the pressure starts now. Whether you’re fighting your way in or actually starting the playoffs, it’s the most important three weeks of the Fantasy Football year. Good luck.

Injury news: Todd Heap, Tony Gonzalez, Dez Bryant (out), Ben Roethlisberger, Vincent Jackson (out), Joseph Addai, Antonio Gates, Pierre Thomas, Hakeem Nicks (out), Steve Smith – NYG (out), Brandon Marshall, Mike Williams – SEA (out), Jahvid Best, Ryan Torain, CJ Spiller, Matthew Stafford (out), Ryan Mathews, Austin Collie, Kenny Britt (out), Tony Romo (out).

QB: Jason Campbell, Jon Kitna, and David Garrard. If you’re playing Russian Roulette with your quarterbacks, here’s the plan. Campbell this week, either Kitna or Campbell the following week, and Garrard for the whole enchilada.

RB: James Starks, Tim Hightower, Chris Ivory, Marshawn Lynch, and Tashard Choice. Starks and Hightower are RB2 starts this week if you have the stomach. Ivory and Lynch won’t produce like last week, but I’d start them at Flex and expect a TD. Choice had a great week and will get more carries, but I’m not sure he’ll get enough with Felix Jones and Marion Barber in the mix. He’s still worth a roster spot.

WR: Roy Williams, Earl Bennett, Anthony Armstrong, and Jacoby Ford. The Dez Bryant injury opens the door for ole Roy, but like the rest of these guys, he’s a WR3 at best. The only guy I’d start this week would be Ford, but even he’s a big time gamble.

TE: Benjamin Watson and Ed Dickson. Watson is worthy of a start this week and could be a Top 5 TE. Dickson has a great match up and is a lower-tier option, but make sure to check the availability of Todd Heap before you start him.

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups: 2010 Week 13

November 29th, 2010 kNuke

It’s back to the grind after the long weekend. If you couldn’t think of anything to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, here’s a couple. You’re not Kyle Brotzman and you didn’t lose by three points with Mike Goodson, Fred Jackson, and Maurice Morris on your bench like my buddy Mega Marshall… Ouch.

Injury news: Frank Gore (out), Ben Roethlisberger, Adrian Peterson, Vincent Jackson (out), Mike Sims-Walker, Joseph Addai, Antonio Gates, Pierre Thomas, Hakeem Nicks (out), Steve Smith – NYG (out), Brandon Marshall, Mike Williams – SEA, Jahvid Best, Ryan Torain, CJ Spiller, Beanie Wells, Matthew Stafford (out), Ryan Mathews, Austin Collie, Kenny Britt (out), Tony Romo (out).

QB: Matt Cassel, Sam Bradford, Jon Kitna, Shaun Hill, and Chad Henne. Cassel and Bradford enter starter status this week coming off of big games and facing excellent match ups. Henne is worth a flyer for the Fantasy playoffs if you gamble at the QB spot; check his Week 15 and 16 match ups, total goodness.

RB: Brian Westbrook, Toby Gerhart, Jonathan Stewart, Mike Goodson, Maurice Morris, Anthony Dixon, Chris Ivory, Donald Brown, and Marion Barber. Westbrook becomes a RB2 while Dixon is a Flex TD play if Gore is done for the season. Gerhart is a RB2 if Adrian Peterson is sidelined. Stewart is very talented, but he’ll still split carries with Goodson. Don’t get too excited as a Flex spot is all I’ll bet at this point. Morris, Ivory, and Brown are Flex plays, but their value depends solely on the injury status of the running back above them on the depth chart. As always, check the injury reports before deploying any of these guys. Barber is a one week TD play. For some reason the tarot cards are reading twice.

WR: Jacoby Ford, Kevin Walter, Nate Washington, Blair White, Nate Burleson, and Ben Obomanu. Ford is built tough and has the ability to score any time he touches the ball, but he’s a WR3 at best. If Andre Johnson is suspended, Walter would be a solid WR3 option. Washington should be a lower-tier WR2 this week heading into Jacksonville as long as Kerry Collins is throwing him the ball. The rest of the lot are borderline WR3 options.

TE: Kevin Boss and Tony Moeaki. Boss delivered and with the Giants WRs still ailing, expect more of the same. If you don’t like doubling up in back to back weeks, Moeaki has a nice match up; expect a TD.

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups: 2010 Week 12

November 22nd, 2010 kNuke

This is a quick week for us Fantasy footballers. There are three Thursday games, turkey, stuffing, and probably some purse holding duties so set your lineups by Wednesday. You can always do a quick checkup on Saturday before watching some college football.

Injury news: Cedric Benson, Mike Sims-Walker (out), Hakeem Nicks (out), Steve Smith – NYG (out), Brandon Marshall, Mike Williams – SEA, Jahvid Best, Ryan Torain, CJ Spiller (out), Beanie Wells, Percy Harvin, Matthew Stafford (out), Ryan Mathews, Jonathan Stewart, Roddy White, Austin Collie, Kenny Britt (out), Tony Romo (out), Joseph Addai, Antonio Gates, Pierre Thomas, and Clinton Portis (out).

QB: Jon Kitna, Shaun Hill, Matt Hasselbeck, Matt Cassel, and Troy Smith. Kitna and Hill are inching closer to weekly starter status. Hill has a nice match up and is worth gambling at starter.

RB: Mike Goodson, Keiland Williams, Maurice Morris, Chris Ivory, Tim Hightower, Donald Brown, and Bernard Scott. All of these guys are solid Flex plays, but their value depends solely on the injury status of the running back above them on the depth chart. Make sure to check the injury reports before slotting any of these guys into your starting lineup.

WR: Blair White, Nate Burleson, Mike Williams (SEA), Nate Washington, Mike Thomas, and Derek Hagan. All of these guys minus Hagan have the ability to put up WR2 numbers any given week, but they’re not quite there on a weekly basis. Hagan is an interesting pickup with Steve Smith and Hakeem Nicks both out. All of these WR pickups should fall very nicely into the WR3 slot of your starting lineup.

TE: Kevin Boss, Benjamin Watson, Rob Gronkowski, and Jimmy Graham. With all the Giants receivers ailing, expect Boss to catch a TD along with 60+ yards. Watson and Gronkowski have nice match ups this week and are worth the gamble if you have a fringe TE1. Graham is startable if Shockey is out.
