More Right Knee Soreness

May 11th, 2009 kNuke

Every once in a while, my right knee becomes pretty sore; it’s a dull pain that persists for up to a couple days. Even when I’m sitting around watching TV, I feel pain regardless of the way my leg is positioned. I still can’t pinpoint what activities cause the pain, but I thought I’d note it for future reference.

Discomfort Behind Outside of Knee

April 27th, 2009 kNuke

I haven’t really gone full blast with my hamstring workouts since the ACL surgery, but my knee had been feeling pretty good for a while so i decided it was time to take the training wheels off. Over the course of a week I did Deadlifts and Hamstring Curls without any issues, but when I tried to do Glute-Ham Raises, I felt some discomfort.

Over the next three days I had a lingering discomfort behind the outside of surgically repaired knee. I took it easy for a of couple days, but did some wind sprints on the third day. Currently my knee feels fine. Hopefully, this was just a bump in the road. I’m a little hesitant to go full blast again, but I’m going to test it out anyway, because my knee is supposed to be 100%. I’m wondering if this discomfort was because of the knee surgery or just a freak occurrence?

Repaired ACL Massage

March 27th, 2009 kNuke

My left knee has had a few tweaks here and there, but nothing major.  It’s weird that most of my knee pain comes from my right knee.  I still can’t get into a full squat without soreness in my left knee unless I warm up really well.  I’m wondering if I should go to get massages on my knee to loosen it up for time to time?  Can I trust a regular Massage Therapist or do I need to go to a Physical Therapist?

Sore Achilles

March 26th, 2009 kNuke

About an hour before I went to bed last night my right Achilles became sore.  Today when I woke up, my right knee was sore.  This has happened a few times in the past as well.  I’m wondering if my Achilles soreness is an indicator for knee soreness?

I need to make it a point to stop compensating for my surgically repaired knee.  I’m sure that’s what’s causing the soreness.

Tweaked Knee Healed

March 7th, 2009 kNuke

After tweaking my knee, I was really worried since I was feeling some consistent sharp pains.  Luckily, after resting a few days my knee feels a lot better.  I feel pretty confident that I’ll be able to return to my workout regimine next week without any issues.

Tweaked Knee

March 4th, 2009 kNuke

The outside of my surgically repaired left knee is a little sore today.  I was stretching and decided to do some yoga poses to loosen up my legs.  I leaned a little too far forward in the Warrior stance and tweaked it.

It’s been a little less than a year since I tore my left ACL.  I’m a little worried because it’s never felt like this before.  I can walk around fine, but anytime I bend the knee and put a little pressure on it, I feel a sharp pain.  The pain subsides quickly, but it’s still a little alarming.  I plan to rest and stretch since I’m not working out this week due to my abdominal injury, but I’m wondering if I should call someone?

Yoga

February 25th, 2009 kNuke

Since I strained my abdominal last week, I’ve decided to take some time off from lifting to let the injury heal.  I don’t want to sit on my ass for a week so I decided to try something new, yoga!  I picked yoga, because I’m hoping it will help with my knee flexibility and stiffness.

When you’re outside the room watching other people do yoga, it looks really peaceful and relaxing, but when you’re in the room, you begin to realize that yoga actually makes you sweat!  Even though the Instructor had to come over to help me with the poses about 5 times, I really enjoyed the hour-long session.  My knees, back, upper traps, and hips feel a lot more flexible and relaxed.  I think I’m going to check out another yoga session on Friday, but I’m still debating whether to add yoga to my regular routine on a bi-weekly basis.

Still Hesitant

February 16th, 2009 kNuke

Today I noticed that I’m still a little hesitant to push towards my max when doing Deadlifts.  I can understand my hesitation when doing Leg Presses, because my knee sometimes becomes sore, but I feel perfectly fine with Deadlifts.  I figure once I get further along in my lifting program, I’ll feel more comfortable and be able to push myself further.

Is this a normal thing?  Has anyone else experienced the same issues?

Workout Music

February 13th, 2009 kNuke

For the past week I’ve been working out with an iPod Shuffle.  This is the first time I’ve ever worked out with my own music and I have to say it’s a lot better than listening to the crap that most gyms play!  Since I’m in the gym for only about an hour a day I don’t need a lot of songs, but I was wondering what others have on their iPods to help jack them up?

As far as the workouts go, each workout puts more weight on the bar and brings less tightness the day after; both good things.  My right knee did get a little sore today while doing one-legged Leg Presses so I’ll have to keep an eye on that during future workouts.  It’s funny that my right knee is the one that often gets sore huh?

Funny story, while doing Leg Presses my right thigh kept on touching my iPod and maxing out the volume!  I think people across the room could hear my music.

Feeling Stronger

February 10th, 2009 kNuke

Everyone around me is getting the flu and I think I’m fighting it.  Regardless of that fact, my workout went well.  It took a little longer than usual, but I felt strong.  My legs don’t feel as wobbly as last week and all my lifts are slowly approaching my normal weights.  At my estimation I should be back to my normal strength levels in less than a month if my current plan holds up.

On a side note, I took measurements on Sunday and actually gained a 1/2 inch around my belly.  I really need to tighten up my diet on the weekends; it’s my Achilles heal.
