2009 NFL Draft Thoughts

I’m no Mel Kiper Jr or Todd McShay, but here are my 10 Thoughts on the 2009 NFL Draft.

  1. I’m not sold on Matthew Stafford as the #1 Overall selection.  Young Quarterback, bad team, #1 Overall selection…  Smells like a bust.
  2. This will be an Offensive Tackle heavy draft with 5 or 6 coming off the board in the First Round.  Who wants to bet on the Over/Under Bust?  I’m setting the Line at 2.
  3. Aaron Curry is a talent, but he’s not a pass rusher.
  4. Josh Freeman is not worth a #1.
  5. All teams that don’t need a QB, shouldn’t draft one #1.  I’m looking at you Jacksonville and Washington.
  6. Percy Harvin is the second coming of Peter Warrick.
  7. Remember Rhett Bomar?  NFL teams do…  He’s the Second Day steal.
  8. Biggest draft winner, New England Patriots.  They essentially got a late #1 for a backup QB who won’t be starting after Week 7.
  9. Biggest draft loser, Sam Bradford.  For his sake, I hope he doesn’t get hurt.
  10. Biggest fantasy impact, Brandon Pettigrew.

NFL Draft Weekend is always a lot of fun.  Get your popcorn ready!
