Stiff Left Knee

January 17th, 2009 kNuke Posted in ACL Surgery Adventure | 2 Comments »

My left knee and upper back were pretty stiff on Thursday and Friday.  I guess all the swinging and running had an impact.  Even though my knee was stiff, I took it as a good sign, because that meant I worked it out, but yet it wasn’t sore.  I wore my Nikken Kenkotherm knee wrap on both days.  Whenever I wear it, it seems to help the healing process.  Another good thing was that I was able to complete my workout without feeling any pain.

I took actual batting practice today and my knee feels fine.  I didn’t hit very well, but this is another step in my healing process.  We’ll see what happens tomorrow if I have to hit in an actual game, run the bases, and field.

  1. hi there.
    im suffering a ligament tear.
    exactly like you experienced.
    my operation was last year.
    in august.

now, after about 5 months,i can play a little bit of futsal.
    but,after playing,my knee got stiff.

now,i stopped play for a while.

hey,did your leg muscle back to normal.?
my leg muscle especially at my hip and calf.

im a little bit lazy to do physio.=)
m doing it on my own because i dont have money to hire a personal physiotherapist like you are doing.

can u give me a suggestion on how i can built up my muscle and go back on field again a.s.a.p.=)

    tq for reading.
m looking forward to hear from you.=)

  2. My leg muscles function normally, but the strength still isn’t back to 100%. Right now I’m focusing on increasing my fitness level then I’ll work on getting the strength back to 100%.

I’m focusing on my fitness level first because I think that will help keep me injury free moving forward. I’m not as strong or fast as I used to be, but that will come back with the strength. So right now I can play, but I’m not as good as I was.

My suggestion to you would be to run around and simulate your sport, but go easy at first like doing some drills. A little stiffness is okay as long as it’s not sore. Once you feel comfortable, you can move to the next level like playing one quarter, etc. If your sport has contact, I would ask your surgeon about what could happen when you get hit.

Also, I don’t have a physical therapist anymore. I’m doing this all on my own now. Let me know if you got any other questions. I’d be happy to share my thoughts.
