Another “Leg Day”

My knees have felt a lot better the past couple days. A weekend and holiday full of nothingness must have done the trick. Along with the lessened pain, I’ve felt substantially lighter on my feet the past couple of days as well. Added bonus!
I jogged to and from the gym again. I felt so good I thought about doing a mini-sprint, but I was hesitant so I just kept jogging.
I increased the weight a little bit today, but I’m still being overly cautious with the weight at this point. I put 190 lbs on the Leg Press for 3 sets of 12 reps and supersetted Calf Raises for 3 sets of 25 reps. I followed that up with 155 lb Deadlifts for 3 sets of 10 reps. I finished with 3 sets of 10 jump squats. I felt pretty good after the workout, we’ll see how my hamstrings feel after a couple days.I feel pretty good right now, but I noticed during my daily work that I couldn’t do a full squat-sit without my knee hurting. Is that normal? I need to remember to ask the surgeon tomorrow about that. I also need to get a timetable for when I can start doing specific athletic activities. I’m very optimistic for my visit tomorrow!

You are doing great! My HMO told me my time was up on the PT coverage, but I filed a grievence and included a letter from my surgeon indicating that lack of physical therapy to make sure the knee regains mobility without adhesions forming could result in an additional surgery to break down the adhesions. You bet the insurance company chose to provide me with another 30 days of PT rather than pay for more surgery (smile). So I am good nearly through the end of the year.
I still cannot do a full squat, or kneel down, or run. Just this week the PT has started me doing 6 minutes of easy jogging on the treadmill. Weird the first day – the leg felt very heavy and “dead.” The area where they sewed the meniscus is sore again, so I am hoping that is healing up and not going to need more surgery. I will find out at the next appointment with my surgeon just before Christmas.
I hope your followup is a good one! Sounds like you have done a great job of re-building the strength in that leg.

The strength isn’t quite there yet, but the range of motion is pretty much back to normal. My checkup went really well and I’m excited about the next stage of my rehab.
Good luck at your next appointment and congrats on getting more PT!
