ACL Surgery Pre-Operation Visit

June 17th, 2008 kNuke Posted in ACL Surgery Adventure | 2 Comments »

Today was my pre-op with the orthopedic surgeon.  I thought I was going to have a bunch of tests done, but nothing.  The surgeon drew on my knee, helping me visualize where the cuts would be and that was about it.

I did ask a few questions to clarify some things and here’s what I got.

  • I found out the time to arrive at the hospital and where exactly to go.
  • I got a handicap parking permit application form for the 2 months that I can’t walk.
  • I got a Vicodin and nausea medicine prescription.
  • I’ll probably be sore for 2-4 weeks, but rehab will start in the 2nd week.
  • It’s advisable not to drive or go to work for at least a week.  I was thinking I’d be back at work by Tuesday, but I guess not.

Alright, I’m excited to be whole again!  I’m going to think happy thoughts for the quickest recovery.  I’ll probably be out of it for a couple days after the surgery, so my next blog entry will probably be on Saturday.  See you all after the surgery!
